Ray’s Trip, Take Four

Ray’s and Chenga are two names commonly thought of when the state of Ohio is mentioned to BMX riders. We decided to hit the road for one last indoor park trip this winter and check out Chenga 57 for the first time, and have one last time at Ray’s.

Eddie and Jeremy finally got the over under train done that everyone had wanted to see done the last couple of trips.
The crew for this trip was Jeremy, Eddie, Billy, Zach, and myself. We started out at Jeremy’s and played with the dogs for a little bit, then packed up and hit the road. After the obligatory stop at the first rest stop, we made pretty good time to Chenga. Anthony Cico works the desk there and all I was thinking about was the first time I’d ever seen someone whip over a rail hop on the cover of Dig. I was psyched.

Ryan with a crazy carve on the Chenga bowl capsule. The bowl is insanely slippery.
We shredded Chenga for a while and did some filming, and also met up with Ryan Melia and his brothers, who were also in Ohio at the same time. After we got done at Chenga, we hit the hotel for a little and Jeremy, Eddie, and I rode Ray’s for a while thanks to Ryan and Bobby, the park manager. Big thanks to both those guys.

While at Ray’s, we also got to hang out with Digger, Bobby’s awesome dog. He’s a miniature husky and a total badass. He was jumping boxes in the small rhythm section in a single bound in a train. So cool. He also howls on command, and on pitch.

The next day Ryan and his brothers departed and we hung out in the hotel room for the day before heading to Ray’s. When it was time to leave, we piled into the car and headed to the park. The Garmin did an awesome job at getting us lost, and we basically had to back track back to the hotel and get back on the highway. Kind of ridiculous. We made it to the park and had a wild session. Some serious bangers went down. Saw Chad Shackleford there and I was again psyched. We said good bye to the park for the year, and had a very eventful dinner at Denny’s, then headed back to the hotel, and drove home the next morning. The trip was a total blast, and I can’t wait to shred Ray’s next winter. Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Cliff, Ryan, and Bobby for everything.

Zach did about 6 of these perfect in a row.

Eddie and Jeremy started doing the transfer for the first time this trip, and did a bunch really close to each other.

Billy getting stylish over the last box.

Crank dat turndown.

Eddie with some one footer dealies over the last box.
