Awesome Video

I saw this awesome video today, courtesty of Jim Kallemeyn and Josh Roeda…and a lot of other guys. But they’re a couple of the riders in the video, and I think they filmed a lot of it. Anyway, Josh told me, “We prided ourselves on not being smooth, and just landing the trick.” Which is sweet. Anyway, check it out, some of this footage dates back to 2000.

No news is good news?

Again, I haven’t updated for a while. I suck. I’ll just fill you in on a few things that have happened recently.

In the Michigan city area, Cameron and David are having some interference with their riding. A couple of weeks ago, Cameron got hurt riding the track and hurt his shoulder. He’s back to riding, but says its pretty sore and, “I pulled like everything you can pull in my shoulder.” Hope Cam get back to full force soon.

David called me today and asked if I had any Profiles for sale, as he snapped his Fly cranks. Nice one on this Fly! I remember people breaking their Fly cranks back in the day, and supposedly they solved the problems since then. I guess not. Check the carnage below. Or check every BMX message board, you can find countless threads about broken Fly cranks.

And Steve started his job as a Union Sprinkler Fitter.

In NWI/Lansing news, Collin is back to shredding. We rode Whiting the other night, and got booted in 23 minutes. Exactly. All while we had the place to ourselves, and had no pegs. According to the park district worker, “the police don’t know that, and the park isn’t made for bikes, it’s the wrong type of concrete.” Glad I took part of that survey, Whiting! Let us into your park now!

In other NWI/Lansing news, Cal City is dry and shreddable. Its better than Lansing or Munster, so get up there and shred.

I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to ride with anyone from Lansing again with work/school/whatever schedules. Maybe we can all ride at Krush when it starts snowing, that always seems to get guys together.

Non BMX related, but there was a fire at Benchwarmers sports bar on Ridge Road in Lansing, and smoked out the neighborhood for a bit. Could this have been Alleycat or “I’m small because I’m Candadian” trying to burn away their wonderful memories in the back of this place? Who knows.

I know alot of you check The Come Up fairly often, and if you do, you will have seen the first ever fakie to frontflip. Thanks to MomentumBMX on The Come Up Board for posting the link.

In Chicago Heights news, I know that Jeremy, Billy, and Eddie rode Michigan City today with The Champ. Jeremy has been working like crazy at school, hopefully he gets more time to shred very soon.

I don’t have much else to say. Tomorrow is supposed to be 70 degrees, so get out and ride in one of the last warm days of the year. Will we get an Indian Summer? Only time will tell.

Long time comin’

desktopography

I haven’t updated for a while. I have a few announcements.

1. New website coming. I definitely want to have a full website, and one fully completed for once. Then I’ll continue to work on yet another version since I get bored so easily. It’s definitely going to be good looking. If the site is down for a while, I’m probably updating it.

2. Full length video in the works. Too bad we never film for it. I have no confirmed details on this, except some sections I’m anticipating. I don’t know who will officially have parts or what it’s going to be like. All I know is that we have some clips saved up that are the beginning of the clips for our full length. Whoever wants to film, let us know.

3. Ray’s MTB/Chenga 57 trip in early November. I’m not sure if there is space left over, but ask. It would be cool if another group goes, ask me or Jeremy or David for details.

4. The Zine. Not a print zine, just a 25 page PDF zine that will debut after the Ray’s trip (I need photos from the trip and a story to make an article for the zine). Just random photography, a lot of 35mm film photos, and a few interviews (one that I’m especially excited about.

5. Possible Michigan City jam, more details later, if at all.

6. I might be doing some different style posts, on different topics than BMX, just to keep some sort of fresher content on the site. Here’s a start.

Desktopography. This site is incredibly amazing. It’s a collection of beautiful desktop wallpapers, and come in all sorts of different sizes. High speed internet reccomended for this site. I saw it during one of my late night internet browsings on some random design site. I’ve downloaded a ton, and you should too.

This ridiculous photo of Josh Stricker. Dude is out of his mind. It was found on Fuck Your Scene apparently. Just covering all my bases here.

This just popped up in my RSS reader. It sounds like a good idea to me, but I guess its up to the parents to make it happen. I just don’t want obese kids riding bikes…how will S&M be able to make sub four pound frames if obese kids are going to ride them? We need anorexic, osteoperosis-ridden kids to be able to do whips out of the womb…good job UK, America take notice!

GIVE D EDIT. Guys seem to be pretty awesome on and off their bikes. Part Two was pretty good as well, but I enjoyed the first one a little better I think. Either way, I hope they come out with more awesome videos along the lines of these.

leapord

Finally! After delaying it six months, Apple has come out with Version 10.5 of their operating system, named “Leapord.” I can’t wait to install this, it looks to be very cool. I’m planning on waiting a couple of days before putting it in (to wait for any bugs with it to clear and be fixed), but I’m anticipating this very much.

dylan

I am also incredibly excited for this. I’m Not Thereis an unconventional journey into the life and times of Bob Dylan. Six actors portray Dylan as a series of shifting personae — from the public to the private to the fantastical — weaving together a rich and colorful portrait of this ever-elusive American icon.” Taken directly from the Apple trailer page. This looks to be extremely good. If you only look at one thing from these links, make it the trailers for this movie (there are two trailers availible).

That’s it for this massive post. I want to update the blog more often, so check back and see if I actually stick to my promise.

Daily Double

david

I have two pretty cool announcements today. The first is that David Freund is now a part of the Crossroads crew, he rides Michigan City all the time and I got to know him through there. He’s a cool dude and and an awesome rider, so we’re stoked to have him on. All photos on there were taken by Devin M. I believe. I stole them from David’s Myspace.

Second announcement is that I’ve completed Part 1 of ??? of the Remix video. We’ll be putting these out to use some of the better clips from the randoms one last time, and be done with them. Click here to view it.
